What It Is: BoomerangIt is a global lost and found return service that works
with law enforcement, Good Samaritans and other fiduciaries, such as hotels, restaurants
and airlines, to return recovered property to its rightful owners worldwide.
The Company: BoomerangIt, founded in 2001, evolved from the National Bike
Registry (NBR®), the leader in bicycle security since 1984, expanding
its protective role to include any personal or corporate property. It is based in
San Leandro, California.
What It Protects: Anything valuable to the owner and vulnerable to being
lost or stolen. This ranges from personal electronics to sports equipment, children’s
belongings, prescription eyewear, artwork, and business tools such as laptop computers
or PDAs.
Business Benefits: BoomerangIt empowers new relationships between manufacturers,
retailers, consumers, and the products they buy and sell. BoomerangIt offers its
services to original equipment manufacturers as a product enhancement, enabling
them to protect the customer’s goods after the sale and gain greater customer loyalty.
Among manufacturers who have bundled free trial use of BoomerangIt with their products
are Palm, Toshiba, Memorex, Pioneer, London Fog, and High Sierra.
Scope: There are more than one million registered BoomerangIt members, making
it the leading property protection and recovery service of its kind. Reports pour
in daily about members being reunited with their lost or stolen items.
Outlets: BoomerangIt labels, in addition to being sold online, can be purchased
at discount, sporting goods, consumer electronics, and travel goods stores.

How BoomerangIt Works
Consumers purchase tamper-resistant, serialized BoomerangIt labels at select retail
stores or online at www.Boomerangit.com
and place them on important items. They then enter brief product descriptions with
serial number and label number under their secure online BoomerangIt account. BoomerangIt
uses the registration information to match recovered items to their owners and facilitate
their return. Finders who recover a lost or stolen item follow the label instructions
to file a report online or by calling 800-2-BOOMIT. BoomerangIt identifies the registered
owner and arranges for the item’s return – promptly and confidentially. When someone
returns a found item, they receive a reward, which at minimum is free BoomerangIt
labels and service.
