BoomerangIt is a global lost and found return service that works with law enforcement,
Good Samaritans and other fiduciaries, such as hotels, restaurants and airlines,
to help return lost and stolen property to its rightful owners worldwide. It uses
easy-to-affix, unique ID labels and tags backed by a secure online database to identify
recovered items.
The idea belongs to Mr. J.R. Orton III, founder and owner of BoomerangIt. After
having a bike stolen back in the mid 90-ties, he stumbled on the fact there was
no consistent way for police to identify recovered bicycles and return them to their
owners. He developed a proprietary online bicycle registration system and subsequently
acquired the National
Bike Registry, which has been in existence since 1984. BoomerangIt was a
natural succession, bringing the bicycle registration and recovery idea to virtually
everything valuable and vulnerable to loss or theft.

Consumers place BoomerangIt ID labels and tags on their valuable property to indicate
that it is registered and then enter a brief product description with serial number
and label number in the BoomerangIt secure worldwide database. If an item is lost
or stolen, whoever finds it (the police, an airline or hotel, or a Good Samaritan)
can follow the label instructions and report the find online or by calling 800-2-BOOMIT.
Using the registration record, BoomerangIt identifies the owner and arranges for
the item’s return – promptly and confidentially.

BoomerangIt provides an easy, inexpensive means to securely label and identify valuable
items to facilitate their return if lost or stolen. PDAs, laptops, cell phones and
other digital devices carry irreplaceable information. BoomerangIt saves owners
countless hours and resources that would otherwise be wasted replacing the item
or recovering lost data, rebuilding contact lists or downloading music. BoomerangIt
provides secure online inventory for personal and corporate property that can be
used to substantiate ownership in case of product loss, theft or damage.
BoomerangIt makes it simple to reunite a missing item with its rightful owner when
it is recovered. Because it is so easy to use and because BoomerangIt works directly
with law enforcement, hospitality and transportation authorities, it increases the
chances that one’s lost or stolen items will be returned.

goods, consumer electronics, and travel goods stores. Easy-to-affix tamper-resistant,
serialized labels and tags come in a variety of sizes and packages, starting at

Users log onto the BoomerangIt website or call 800-2-BOOMIT to register items individually.
Registration information includes the unique number of the BoomerangIt label, along
with the serial number of the item (if it has one) and a physical description of
the item. Users can also upload a picture of the item for easy identification and
proof of ownership.
BoomerangIt already has your registration information and will contact you immediately
when your item is reported found to us. It is recommended that you also log onto
your BoomerangIt account online or call 800-2-BOOMIT to file a Lost/Stolen Report.
Having your report on file facilitates the verification process and provides for
a speedy return. If you’d like, you can post a reward for the finder.

Finders - whether it is the police, an airline or hotel personnel, or an individual
- go to the BoomerangIt website or call 800-2-BOOMIT to report the information about the found item. BoomerangIt
matches the item, notifies the owner via phone, e-mail and/or fax and arranges the
return with the finder. Arrangements may include a scheduled item pick-up at a convenient
for the finder time and location by a major shipping carrier such as UPS or FedEx.
If both finder and owner agree, owner may pick up the item directly from the finder
– inexpensive and convenient when the found item is at a local police department,
restaurant or other fiduciary. The finder pays nothing, and receives a reward, which
at minimum is free BoomerangIt labels and service.
Most finders want to return the item to its rightful owner – often because they
realize the impact of the loss if that were their own item - and go out of their
way to do so. BoomerangIt just makes it fast and easy for them. Lost and found departments
and police property rooms nationwide are overflowing with recovered items that have
no way to find their owners because of lack of identification - BoomerangIt fills
that gap. And because BoomerangIt works directly with the police, lost & found and
security personnel, the return of lost or stolen property is much more likely.
How much does it cost to have an item returned?
There is no charge to the finder. Owners in good standing pay only third party (UPS,
FedEx, etc.) shipping and handling charges, which vary based on shipping method
and size/weight of the item. Some members qualify for free standard return shipping.
Applicable renewal fee and return fee of $10 applies only for items with expired
or incorrect registration.
BoomerangIt offers the best and most durable labels available on the market, yet
they can be removed by determined criminals. It does require, however, time and
tools to remove them. BoomerangIt labels are specially engineered to be tamper-proof.
Once cured on the item, they are designed to shred (the label only peels off in
tiny bits of pieces) if removal is attempted. Even without its label, an item can
be identified by its serial number or even a simple description - as long as an
item registered, it can be returned. Destruction of the label itself is also a crime
in many states and countries, and it confirms suspicion that the item was stolen,
making the resale more difficult and far less lucrative. At that point, it would
be better for the "finder" to return the property with the chance of garnering a
reward.
Yes. Police studies indicate thieves are less likely to steal marked property (for
example with a BoomerangIt ID label) due to resale difficulties and the risk of
being exposed.
Yes. Powered by the Internet, our service can facilitate return of lost or stolen
items worldwide and has returns in both hemispheres. No matter where an item is
found, the finder can log on to our website (included on all of our labels and tags)
and report the find. Then, we match the item with the owner’s registration record
in our global database and, with the help of leading international shipping companies,
arrange for the return.
How do I renew my BoomerangIt registration?
You can extend an existing registration by purchasing a new BoomerangIt subscription.
Subscribers receive renewal notices before a registration expires. The new registration
term is effective from the date owner pays to renew the service. BoomerangIt provides
subscribers with the opportunity to renew and purchase products and services at
a discount for early renewal.
How does BoomerangIt handle expired registrations?
Before a registration expires, subscribers receive e-mail or mail reminders to renew.
If they choose not to, the BoomerangIt guarantee to maintain that information expires,
but we archive the record in the database for one year. If an expired item is reported
found, the owner can still get it back but there is an additional charge, which
includes applicable renewal fee plus $10 return fee.
What if a person sells a registered item or buys a pre-owned item?
Sellers can access the website to transfer ownership. If a registered item is sold
to another BoomerangIt subscriber, the registration can be transferred directly
to that person’s account.
BoomerangIt is a secure system utilizing the latest encryption technology designed
to protect users’ credit card and personal information. It also enables owners to
get their property back through BoomerangIt, keeping the personal information of
both owner and finder private and anonymous. Only if both owner and finder prefer
to arrange for the item’s return directly, BoomerangIt puts them in touch.
BoomerangIt does not share its members’ information with any third parties without
the member’s explicit permission, except for use in returning property to owners,
in cooperation with law enforcement agencies. Participating manufacturers who offer
a free trial or include BoomerangIt with their products receive access to their
own customers’ records only.
How does BoomerangIt match recovered items?
BoomerangIt uses the latest in security and database technologies to support and
service our customers and clients. It features proprietary state-of-the-art database
and patent-pending search-and-match technology that provides missing items multiple
ways to "find" their owner:
- by matching the unique ID label number
- by matching the product serial number
- by matching the descriptive information provided upon registration
- by matching the time and location an item has been lost and found.

Does BoomerangIt have a relationship with police departments?

through the National Bike
Registry, the company’s first property registration service. BoomerangIt
offers law enforcement agencies a global system through which they can locate owners

Does BoomerangIt also work with insurance companies?
Insurance companies can use the BoomerangIt reporting system to facilitate sharing
information between police, insurance companies and policyholders. Insurance companies
are more likely to use BoomerangIt’s services, because reports are provided to them
at a fraction of the typical cost.
BoomerangIt works closely with fiduciaries such as hotels, restaurants and airlines
which are obligated to hold recovered items and try to find their owners. With BoomerangIt,
these items stand a better chance of being reunited with the owners. In addition,
BoomerangIt provides secure 24/7 password-protected access to the database to participating
lost and found departments to check if the recovered property is registered.
Does BoomerangIt partner with manufacturers?
BoomerangIt partners with select original equipment manufacturers (OEM’s)
to add value by including BoomerangIt protection with their products. Consumers
then register the products at the manufacturer’s website or send in the warranty
card. The service encourages customer loyalty, with manufacturers not only concerned
about the sale but ensuring customer satisfaction with the purchase and long-tem
use of the product. BoomerangIt also serves as a product registration incentive,
making it easy for OEM’s to communicate with their customers about product updates.

How successful is BoomerangIt at returning items to owners?
With more than 1.2 million registered members, BoomerangIt recovers items every
day, worldwide, and for the seven years of its existence thousands of found items
have been reported.
Clear-cut statistics on what percentage of lost items get returned are hard to obtain
since owners are not required to report the loss to get their item back. Often items
are recovered BEFORE the owner has even realized the item was missing. While other
services base success on individual, isolated “lose it” tests, with limited number
of lost items and location, the BoomerangIt success is in our everyday recoveries,
thousands of finds reported in the BoomerangIt database, as well as our relationships
with law enforcement and other fiduciary organizations. When a found item is correctly
registered, BoomerangIt identifies and returns the item to its owner 100% of the
times.
What other benefits are there to BoomerangIt?
BoomerangIt provides reporting capabilities that no other service does. The multi-faceted
BoomerangIt system allows pertinent parties -- product owners, manufacturers, resellers,
collateral lenders, insurers, and law enforcement agencies -- to view and manage
articles in which they have an interest, and to maintain relationships with each
other.
There are several lost and found services, which operate bulletin board systems
for people to post a lost-or-stolen notice of an item and search for postings by
others. There are also websites that offer similar property registration services
with labels and tags, but they are not as extensive as BoomerangIt and lack the
scope, experience and recognition of BoomerangIt.

you wish to return or cancel your order, please refer to the Merchandise
